Education Resources, d/Tour | Education, The Garden of Forking Paths
Developed for d/Lux/MediaArts by Madeleine Kelman Snow, our Garden of Forking Paths Education Resource complements the exhibition by providing further information about each of the artists and works in the show as well as activities to enhance student experience.
The Garden of Forking Paths exhibition draws together notable historic and contemporary computer games created by artists that push the bounds of the genre and break the orthodox set of rules. The presented pieces span the last three decades—from Jaron Lanier’s 1983 Commodore64 game ‘Moondust’ through to Tale-of-Tales 2009 release ‘The Path’—a period which has seen incredible advances in technology and the birth of the information age. Opportunities, Other people's | film festival, mobile, mobile screenfest
As early as 2005, d/Lux/MediaArts created the Mobile Journeys initiative to explore mobile screen capabilities—including the creation of a mini-series shot for mobile in conjunction with the South Australian Film Corporation and a mobile film-making master class—and we have continued to explore this area under the d/Lux/Mobile banner.
In this spirit, we are pleased to support Mobile Screenfest who are asking everyone to submit ‘shot on mobile’ video or photographic entries in any one of nine categories.
You have until 22 August to shoot and upload your ‘shot-on-mobile’ film, video or photograph to win a share of the $12,000 in cash and prizes – one of the highest prize pools for any mobile phone film festival globally. Entry is FREE and finalist entries will be screened on the 21st September 2010 at the Factory Theatre in Sydney. The key criteria are that entrants should be Australian residents aged 15 and over and the short films should range from 30 seconds to four minutes in duration.
